The Mission & District Soapbox Derby Association was incorporated in October of 2000 as a non-profit association for the historical Mission Soapbox Derby. Our executive and members live and work in Mission and the surrounding communities. We rely upon local businesses for corporate sponsorship, including the District of Mission.
Over 150 volunteers are needed to help organize and participate in this event. This is a community event and without the support of community groups, businesses and private citizens, this event would not be possible.
The next Mission Soapbox Derby will be held:
Sunday June 1, 2014 and
Sunday August 10, 2014 (as rain out)
Primary: Saturday June 14, 2014
First Rain Out: Saturday August 23, 2014
Secondary Rain-Out: Sunday Sept. 14, 2014 (Do or Die)
Preliminary Program (subject to change)
7:30am - Racers' check-ins and car inspections
9:00am - Opening ceremony with Mission's Mayor and dignitaries
9:15am - Start of the races, Heat #1 (approx. 30 races)
12:00pm- 12:30pm Lunch break, with
* Martial Arts Demonstrations
* Pudding Eating Contest
* Hot Dog Eating Contest
- Start of races, Heat #2 (approx. 30 races)
- Awards Ceremony
We encourage everyone to come to Mission to watch the races and participate in other fun events:
The registration cost is $30.00 (subject to change) for participants ages 8 through 14 years, both girls and boys.
Adult racers: $50 (15yrs and up).
